Called To Serve As A Family

The following is some background on why I write today. Christy and I felt called to the mission field many months ago, we always felt we could do more for the Lord and his Kingdom. This call came with many questions especially about our children. Many asked us along the way this is your call but we would quickly response and say no this is our family’s call. For the Lord would not call just one of us and some did not understand that. As parents of two great children we knew this would be a big responsibility but we also knew this call was real and God had His hand on our family. So we trusted in Him and followed the call now we live and serve Him daily in the country of Moldova.

In Moldova there is a celebration each year in the fall season, this celebration is referred to as “Harvest Day”. Each local church has this special day and creates a big display of the fruits of field, the seasonal harvest, to remind us we have so much to be thankful.

Today at our church, Harvest Mentanoia Church, we celebrated Harvest Day. During the celebration the children sang a couple songs and included in those children were our two children Michael and Mary. Right then and there through our children the Lord reassured me they are okay and this was a call on the family not just me. Many of those passed questions were answered as Michael and Mary were singing with 15 other Moldavian children in front of 150 people and they were comfortable, happy, adjusted and praising the Lord in Romanian.

So many times we get caught up in life and forget what is important, being thankful. Today I give thanks to the Lord for two awesome kids, and amazing wife, a family both here in Moldova and in the States that supports us and believes in us. Most of all I give thanks to the Lord for sending His to die on the cross for us that we might have everlasting life with Him.

In closing 1stThessalonians 5:16-18 pretty much sums it up,

16 Rejoice always!
17 Pray constantly.
18 Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

We should be giving thanks constantly no matter how good or bad the day has been. Truly it a blessing that no words can explain to have the chance to serve the Lord each and ever day on the mission field and I am thankful along with my family that WE were called to serve Him in Modova
God is good, all the time God is good.
